Ale piękny dzień...

Not only British love talking about weather.. Polish people as well.

If the day is so beautiful like today, you might hear:

Jest słonecznie. - It is sunny.

Jest ciepło.- It is warm.

Jest gorąco.- It is hot.

Ale upał!- 'upał' is a noun which you can use when it is really hot and  Polish 'ale'= English 'so' or 'such'.

Ale gorąco! - So hot!

Ale piękny dzień!- Such a beautiful day!

Many of my students very often say: 'Pogoda jest dobra' (as in English we say: 'The weather is good'). It is wrong. You should say:

Pogoda jest ładna. or Pogoda jest piękna. (exactly the same adjectives which we use to describe a girl).

As the first exercise, try to translate words which you can see below:

 and then check:

" Jaki dziś mamy dzień?" zapytał Puchatek.

"Dzisiaj" odpowiedział Prosiaczek.

"To mój ulubiony dzień"- odparł Puchatek.

pytać- to ask

odpowiedzieć- to answer

ulubiony (a; e) - favourite

dzień- a day
